C&NW calls these units "C40-8A," the GE model designation is "Dash 8-40C." Equipped with Automatic Train Control and Pacesetter speed control for slow-speed loading of unit coal trains. Equipped with Union Pacific Coded Cab Singals, for use in teh leading position on Union Pacific lines. Equipped with dynamic braking.
