Chicago & North Western

I've a special fondness for the fallen flag but not forgotten C&NW.

Chicago & North Western railroad equipment continues to be seen frequently in the Chicagoland area, with many photos to be found here. A list of the locomotives, the freight cars, several C&NW stations, a few Towers and Yards, some former C&NW equipment, and all C&NW equipment in this photo collection will guide your viewing.

The Chicago & North Western railroad merged with the Union Pacific Railroad about April 1995. Some locomotives continue to carry C&NW markings. Many freight cars continue to have C&NW reporting marks, when repainted typically keeping their C&NW reporting mark and number, while acquiring a UP logo.

The official World Wide Web site of the Union Pacific railroad, the successor railroad of the merger, is at http://www.uprr.com. The Chicago & North Western Historical Society World Wide Web site is at http://www.cnwhs.org.

Photos of the C&NW can also be found at Erich Russ' Chicago & North Western site at http://members.aol.com/erichruss/trains/cnw/ and at Lyndon's M&StL and C&NW Railroad site at http://eldora.net/lyndon/.
