The tower and passing trains can be viewed and photographed from an industrial parking lot just west (and across the tracks) from the tower, and Wisconsin Central trains from along First Street. From the a block west of the Des Plaines station, take Graceland Street southwest (crossing the UP Northwest (Harvard Sub) tracks) (a few blocks) to Thacker Street, then west on Thacker Street across the Wisconsin Central (former Soo Line) tracks, and then the first right onto First Street, which parallels the WC track, for serveral blocks to its end at North Street. You'll want to stay clear of the tracks and right-of-way; both Metra and freight trains can appear before they can be heard. --had
