On 17 June 1998 the crew of the UP local job on Union Pacific 1946 locomotive was assigned to pilot the Nebraska Zephyr from the Illinois Railway Museum in East Union to the West Chicago Yard. They tied down their locomotive on Schmidt Siding on Museum property, and were then taken back to the Museum Depot on interurban car Illinois Terminal 415. Upon arrival at the West Chicago Yard with the Nebraska Zephyr they were returned to the Museum by automobile, where they picked up their locomotive, and continued their day's work.
