Metra numbers 613-614 were built by General Motors Electromotive Division for EMD order number 73689 in 1974, EMD model F40C. Metra assigned them to the Milwaukee lines. F40C's 600-614 were originally purchased for the Northwest Suburban Mass Transit District (NWSMTD) and the North Suburban Mass Transit District (Nortran), and were originally numbered 40-54 for the Milwaukee Road. Those transit districts had been formed along the two former Milwaukee Road lines. NWSMTD still owns 600-612, while Nortran has since been dissolved. [Courtesy of Metra Railfan Page]
