CP 5429 is a 3,000 horsepower model SD40-2, built between 1975 and 1976 by General Motors Electro Motive Division. [courtesy of The Official Locomotive Rosters & News, James W. Kerr, 2000 edition, ISBN 0-919295-32-0, August 1999]
CP 5429: Builder: EMD, Model: SD40-2, B/N: 74690-31, B/D: 1975, Notes: GATX-2007 / MP-3194; sold. Units 5422-5431 were originally MP and went to UP through the 1982 merger. They were retired by UP in April 1990 and became GATX Capital Corp. 2000-2009. After these units were purchased in March 1994, they were relettered with a red "CP Rail" decal on the hood and a red "CP" on the nose, with the exception of 5423 and 5427 which were overhauled and painted in the "Dual-Flag" scheme.
